The coal ministry put up for auction 41 mines, comprising 20 conventional and 21 underground coal gasification (UCG) mines, pushing for utilization of deep-seated coal reserves through gasification. It is the first time the government has put up for auction potential UCG mines, aiming to promote cleaner and more diversified uses of coal.

In a significant step towards digital transformation and enhanced data-driven governance, the Ministry of Coal is set to launch “Koyla Shakti”, a Smart Coal Analytics Dashboard that will serve as a unified platform for real-time monitoring and analysis of coal sector operations.
